Turning OFF / Isolating your Water Coolers during Extended Shut Down periods
With the majority of offices are shut owing to the COVID pandemic we are advising that your mains water cooler / plumbed in water cooler / plumbed water dispenser / mains water dispenser are isolated. We would also suggest likewise for your mains water boiler, mains hot water dispenser, plumbed in hot water dispenser, hot beverage dispenser.
See below a simple guide showing you how to do this.
1. Isolate the mains supply
The majority of mains water coolers / plumbed in water coolers / plumbed water dispensers/mains water dispensers are fitted with either ¼ inch or 3/8 white or blue flexible tubing. If further than a few feet away from the mains connection point an isolating valve can be found connected to the tubing at the back of the mains water cooler/mains water boiler. Turn this isolating valve clockwise by ¼ – this will isolate water to the machine.
2. Isolate the mains supply via the connection point
For extended / long term shutdowns we would also suggest that you isolate at the point of connection also. In most cases, the mains connection point is usually underneath a sink and the isolator will look like one of the 2 below images:
