Provided here is a short ‘troubleshooting’ guide to dealing with taste issues with your cooler.
On rare occasions, customers may experience a taste issue with their water cooler. This guide will help you to establish the cause and provide remedy, onsite, within a few minutes.
Problem #1 >Cooler is not chilling / not plugged into electrical supply
The simple fact is; ice cold water often tastes nicer than room temperature water. If taste is an issue, firstly check that your cooler is plugged into the electrical socket, and that the lead is pushed firmly into the back of the machine. Ensure the plug socket is turned on, and that the water being dispensed is ice cold.
Problem #2 > Taint or contamination of the taps
It is common for people to use a water cooler to add a splash of cold water to their cup of coffee or tea. If any of the hot drink splashes up onto the taps (especially true for cappuccino style coffee), then the residue can cause the water to have a bitter taste. Another cause for a taste issue can be cleaning staff spraying the front of a cooler with a cleaning product. If this is accidentally sprayed onto taps, it will also cause a bitter or chemical taste to the water. To remedy this, please undertake the following:
Using a simple use wipe and very hot water, wipe over the outside of the taps and the dispensing nozzle. Once this has been done thoroughly, then please flush 2-3 litres of water through the taps, to remove any remaining residue.
Problem #2 > Cooler not used for a period of time
Coolers should not be left for long periods of time without regular use. If you need to shut off your machine then please ensure you isolate and drain the cooler, following our guide on How to Isolate Your Cooler, on our Troubleshooting Guide.
If the cooler has not been used for a short period of time, and you feel there is a taste issue, then please flush 2-3 litres of water through the taps to see if this resolves the issue. If it does not, or you are concerned as to when your cooler was last serviced please contact aqualeader.
