Why is a Plumbed-In Cooler better?

There are many ecological benefits to plumbed in coolers – it isn’t just the plastic in the bottles which make bottled coolers less eco-friendly, one of the major impacts is the amount of transportation involved in the regular delivery of the bottles – not to mention the fact that bottled coolers need servicing twice as often as POU coolers, meaning extra journeys for the engineers that come out and perform the service – and reducing vehicle use is one of the biggest factors in reducing your carbon footprint.

Add to that the environmental costs of sterilising, transporting and refilling the bottles, and the inevitable plastic waste as bottles cannot be reused an infinite amount of times – over time they will wear out – and the environmental benefits of a cooler which takes water from your mains water supply are obvious.

Then there are the economic factors – while bottled water servicing can be cheaper, once you factor in the requirement for quarterly servicing as opposed to the twice-yearly visits required for POU coolers, these visits will cost more over the course of a year. On top of that, bottled water is inevitably more expensive that water from your mains water supply, due to the additional costs to the provider of production, transportation, sterilisation and storage.
